'OUT in the World' map
What does the world look like for LGBTQ+ human rights?

Welcome to our 'OUT in the World' interactive map
In these challenging times with populism sweeping the world, people often ask what is happening to the LGBTQ+ communities?
Our new interactive map can help you out whatever your needs - whether you are a tourist wanting to travel to new places and seek more information on LGBTQ+ rights in your destination, or you are a refugee entering a new country. Perhaps you are working on a research project, or you simply want to know more about a nation state and LGBTQ+ rights, if so, our map is for you. You can explore the map by scrolling towards the bottom of this page.
It is your helpful guide to queer rights across the globe. It is a 'living' project and we will add new map pins and links over time as new content becomes available.
First published in beta mode April 2025 and updated regularly.

How to explore
Zoom in on any country where there is a ReportOUT map pin. Click on it and you will find information designated by content type. Each map pin links to topics on ReportOUT's site such as research projects, YouTube videos, podcasts, training activities and human rights campaigns.
Some regions have dense concentrations of map pins (such as Europe) so they don't always appear in view at far zoom distance - simply zoom in further to view. Where content is about a global topic that is not specific to one nation state or covers many, we locate the map pin in international waters in the deep oceans! Where the topic is global and relates to our submissions to the United Nations, we locate these near New York, the home of the UN Headquarters.
You can navigate around the world and change your point of reference For example, move to a Pacific-centred point of view instead of an Atlantic one. All country and UN reports and other resources are downloadable. Links to our podcasts and videos will allow you to watch or listen to them. Enjoy exploring the world of LGBTQ+ human rights.
The icons locate our work around the world by content or activity
