Join ReportOUT and Mongolian activists on Wednesday, 30th June, from 6pm on Zoom to hear more about what life is like for sexual and gender minorities in Mongolia. We'll be speaking with activists from a variety of backgrounds, discussing the current political situation, human rights of sexual and gender minorities in Mongolia, as well as access to services, health, housing, community and other issues, including how the community in the country is finding resistance.
Our panelists are:
- Enkhmaa Enkhbold is the Executive Director of the first and only non-governmental organization working to secure, promote and safeguard the civil, political, economic, cultural and social rights of the LGBTQI+ people in Mongolia. Enkhmaa identifies as a genderqueer, queer person of colour from the Global South, an intersectional feminist, a human rights defender and LGBTQI+ rights activist. She gained her B.A. in Women's and Gender Studies at San Francisco State University in CA, USA. (She/they pronoun)
- Jack is a queer rights activist from Mongolia and currently studying in Melbourne for his master's degree in Public Health. He had worked at the LGBT Centre in Mongolia for five years in charge of the health programme and had been instrumental in identifying healthcare system gaps and developing opportunities to improve access to healthcare for queer Mongolians. He has been currently working on his research project focusing on the lived experience of young queer Mongolians as part of his Master's degree. Jack identifies as a cisgender gay male. His pronoun is he/him.
